They’re concentrated in Malta’s rural Western villages (Siġġiewi, Mġarr) and across much of Gozo, and are treated by estate agents as their own distinct, sought-after category - related to but separate from a house of character, which is typically an urban or village-core townhouse rather than a rural, originally agricultural building.
