A house of character is an older traditional Maltese property - typically a townhouse - retaining original architectural features such as exposed wooden beams, internal courtyards, or stone arches. They’re concentrated in historic village cores such as Rabat, Mdina, Żebbuġ, Żejtun and Siġġiewi, and often qualify for the Urban Conservation Area incentives covered in Stamp Duty & Buying Costs if vacant long enough and old enough to meet the scheme’s conditions.
