Undivided Share

Co-ownership of a property where each owner holds a fractional share of the whole, rather than a physically divided part.

An undivided share (pro-indiviso) is a form of co-ownership where two or more people each own a fractional share of an entire property - such as siblings inheriting a house jointly - rather than each owning a physically separate part of it. Selling, mortgaging or developing a property held in undivided shares generally requires the agreement of all co-owners, which can complicate transactions involving inherited property until shares are formally divided or bought out.
